Amara Tekus, LAc, MAOM is licensed as an Acupuncturist by the Oregon Medical Board and has been practicing East Asian Medicine since 2013. Again and again, over the years, she has seen the tremendous amount of healing our complex bodies can do on their own when met with compassionate and individualized support. She was fortunate enough to be introduced at a young age to the gentle yet powerful effects of acupuncture and Chinese herbs, and she continues to instill those same virtues into each of her treatments—gentle & patient-centered care with transformative & effective results.
Although she’s been practice for more than a decade now, Amara has never specialized because she enjoys treating a wide variety of health concerns. She excels in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and injury, hormonal imbalance, digestive issues, migraines, immune support, stress/emotional disregulation, and all manner of unwelcome inflammation within the body.
Amara is a board-certified herbalist and is able to prescribe custom formulas as part of your treatment plan if of interest. Acupuncture treatments may also include cupping, gua sha, or moxibustion.
She has specialized training as a lactation consultant at Portland State University, culminating in several internships including at Legacy Emanuel hospital. Because of this and her experiences attending live births offering acupuncture to laboring mothers, she is passionate about working with pregnant and postpartum mothers, as well as women seeking fertility support.
Amara has been featured in Portland Monthly for their Top Acupuncturist list.

Please contact your insurance carrier directly if unsure of your benefits coverage for acupuncture. We will double verify as well so please be sure to submit your complete insurance information when scheduling if you wish to use insurance. You may also use an HSA or FSA account for payment.
*Please note, for CHP and most Cigna and Aetna health plans, our office typically charges a “Non-covered services fee” per a pre-disclosed agreement with patients. This policy adds an additional out of pocket cost for patients of up to $50 per visit, in addition to any copay or coinsurance. FSA or HSA may be used for these costs. This fee will be refunded once your claim has processed should your plan cover the services we provide. The lack of increase in the reimbursements for acupuncture, in concurrence with a steady rise in costs, has made this fee a necessity. This policy allows our providers to maintain the quality of care our patients expect and that we demand of ourselves as medical providers. Many clinics do not charge this fee and we completely understand if this causes you to look elsewhere. Even if paying this fee, there is significant savings using your insurance as opposed to paying out of pocket. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any further questions or concerns.
