Chiropractic Treatment is a spinal manipulative therapy that aims to improve the relationship between the spinal structure, muscles, fascia and ligaments and central and peripheral nervous system. When the body and nervous system are communicating well, then the body has the ability to heal itself under stress.

Chiropractic Treatment During Pregnancy

The Webster Technique is the treatment used during pregnancy. This prepares the pelvis for a comfortable pregnancy and birth by balancing the bony pelvis structures, releasing muscles and ligaments. This helps to reduce tension on the uterus and the baby. The spinal adjustments reduce interference that may be present in the mother’s nervous system so the body can co-ordinate all of the mother’s body systems.

Chiropractic Treatment for Children

Every child deserves to enter the world as healthy as possible. It is encouraged that children are assessed as a natural approach to ensure healthy development for kids.

This starts with a general assessment to improve healthy spinal development. As kids are learning to stand, walk and explore the world, bumps and bruises are common and happen daily. Slips, falls, bumps on the head can lead to more than just a boo-boo; typically it is these small every day traumas that set the stage for spinal dysfunction, pelvic misalignments, and other body compensations over time.

A child can come in as soon as they are born. Depending on pregnancy and the birth there can be traumatic tension and forces that the baby endures. In the current healthcare economy, birth trauma is frequently ignored, overlooked and in many cases misdiagnosed.

A chiropractor will gently assess a newborns spine after they have pushed, turned, squeezed and twisted their way into this world. Most often, a chiropractor will assess the function of the top vertebrae in the child’s neck to ensure proper function and to reduce irritation to the delicate neurological structures which are present between the baby’s brain and body. In many cases, parents have reported resolution of symptoms associated with infantile colic, constipation, chronic ear infections, bed-wetting, torticollis, scoliosis, acid-reflux, and asthma.

The chiropractic adjustment for a newborn is as gentle as the pressure you could press on your eye. Most often a chiropractor will make a gentle contact, and guide the vertebrae into a position of more ease, as the child explores and works through the new movement on their own.
